DN-HBR Denitrification Systems

Post-denitrification process options for wastewater treatment upgrades.

The presentation introduces a post-denitrification HBR (DN-HBR) system and compares it with deep-bed denitrification filters and continuous sand filters. It is positioned as a solution for enhanced total-nitrogen removal where site conditions support the process.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Why Consider This Solution?

Engineering features and potential use cases; actual results depend on the design basis.

  • Designed for enhanced total nitrogen removal in a downstream treatment stage.
  • Lightweight media is described in the company’s comparison of treatment approaches.
  • Process selection can be evaluated against hydraulic head and backwash requirements.
  • Suitable for considering existing plant upgrade projects.
HOW IT WORKS

Working Principle

Denitrification occurs under controlled anoxic conditions using an appropriate electron donor. System sizing and any external carbon dosing depend on nitrate load, dissolved oxygen, temperature and effluent target.

Detailed PFD/P&ID, performance curves and certified specifications are supplied only after product and project confirmation.

APPLICATIONS

Typical Applications

  • Municipal tertiary treatment
  • Total nitrogen reduction projects
  • Effluent upgrade applications
  • Industrial wastewater after biological treatment

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Technical FAQ

Can you specify a standard TN outlet value now?

Not responsibly without inlet analysis and process sizing.

Is carbon dosing required?

That depends on incoming biodegradable carbon and the selected denitrification design.

Are project results transferable between countries?

Local discharge standards and water characteristics must be evaluated separately.
